Reverse Advent Calendar to help the Trussell Trust

School council

This term school council have been meeting regularly to discuss how we can help other people in our community.

We have thought about how we are so fortunate, particularly at Christmas time when we have so many special treats as well as being surrounded by people we love, in a safe, warm environment. We wanted to help people who do not have enough food. For them, the winter is really tough and we would like to try to help make their Christmas a little bit better.

We have been in touch with the Trussell Trust in Salisbury, and they have told us how we can help. So we are using the idea of a reverse Advent calendar, and we have presented to this idea to the rest of the school during Collective Worship. Everyone seemed really interested and keen to do as much as they can, which we are so happy about!  Every day, we will bring in items of food to create hampers for the foodbank.

We are really looking forward to presenting our gifts of food to the charity, and hopefully making Christmas a little bit better for local people who really need it.
